Barnet Group awards winners, 2016

GERA (Granville Road Residents’ Association) who have worked hard to improve Granville Road estate and help the community was presented with special a award at a ceremony staged by The Barnet Group on 7th November 2016.

Among those in attendance at the ceremony was Mayor of Barnet Councillor David Longstaff and chairman of The Barnet Group, Terry Rogers.

And the winners were:
– Good Neighbour Award: Peter and Linda Burfoot
– Under 25s Volunteer of the Year Award: Ellen Davis
– Over 25s Volunteer of the Year Award: Marge Lacey
Residents Association/ Community Award: Granville Road Residents Association
– Inspired by Stella Award (a new award designed to honour former tenant, the late Stella Winskell-Moore). Her family collected the award in her name this year.

The Barnet Group also provides social care for people with physical and learning difficulties through an organisation called Your Choice Barnet. And some of its clients were also recognised for their achievements over the year. They were:

Volunteer of the year: Paul Barton
Making Progress Award: David Vance
Contribution to the Service: Manjula Morar
Striving for Independence Award: Shernette Morris
Staff choice award: Patsy Bagge

This is the second time that GERA is winning an award. On 9th December 2014 we won Barnet Homes Resident Award.
