THE DEVELOPERS’ APPEAL HAS BEEN UPHELD BY THE PLANNING INSPECTOR IN HIS REPORT DELIVERED (08/08/2016)
THIS MEANS THE DEVELOPERS CAN NOW GO AHEAD AND BUILD 132 NEW HOMES ON THE GREEN SPACE ON THE GRANVILLE ESTATE UNLESS AN APPEAL IS LAUNCHED AGAINST THE INSPECTOR’S DECISION IN THE HIGH COURT.
LOCAL RESIDENTS, ALONG WITH THEIR ASSOCIATIONS AND THEIR LOCAL COUNCILLORS, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE LEGAL TEAMS, MADE EVERY EFFORT TO OPPOSE THIS DEVELOPMENT BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE INSPECTOR DID NOT ACCEPT THAT BARNET COUNCIL OR THE LOCAL RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATIONS HAD A STRONG ENOUGH CASE TO PREVENT IT.
When are the council going to repair the panels on the side of the tower blocks that blew off months ago? If this is the standard of building I do not hold out much hope for the future standard of building.
Are the council going to pay the residents compensation for the pollution, excessive noise from drilling, and constant dust caused by years of construction. There will be inevitable digging down deep possibly causing subsidence and cracking to our houses. When the old sheltered homes block was raised to the ground the vibrations caused cracks to appear in my walls.
I am convinced that someone in Barnet’s planning department is not operating to for the benefit of Barnet’s tax payers and should be investigated.
I am very depressed as I am eighty and my last years will be marred by the loss of enjoying my lovely little garden and having to keep my windows shut to keep out the dust and dirt, not to mention noise.
The standard of work to the ‘beautifying’ of the tower blocks is not encouraging and as I already stated and when numerous panels fel of they put in metal strips to retain them which still allowed panels to blow off in the high winds and to this day have not been replaced. to have been hit by one of these would have resulted in injury.
